Goodreads doesn't have an API anymore. Neither does StoryGraph, or Fable. So nothing can automatically know what you're reading — not this, not anything. We stopped pretending that was solvable and built around it instead.

You tell the frame what's on your nightstand the same way you'd tell a friend — quick, when it's true, not tracked in the background. It's less "smart home device" and more a small ritual, the same as moving a bookmark.

Once. It opens a plain page in your phone's browser — nothing to download, nothing to log into.

find the book

Scan the barcode on the back cover, pick from your own shelf if you've imported one, or just search the title. Whichever's fastest for the book in your hand.

it redraws — slowly, on purpose

The screen takes about fifteen seconds to change, the same way turning a page does. Add a line you liked so far, if you want. It'll sit there until you change it again.

it doesn't need to know everything you've read. it only needs to know what you're holding right now.

the honest questions

does it sync automatically with Goodreads or StoryGraph?
No. There's no live API for either — this isn't a corner we cut, it doesn't exist to cut. You update it yourself in about ten seconds, which turns out to be about as accurate anyway.
what happens if I lose the QR sticker?
Hold the button on the back of the frame — it'll show its setup code on screen. You can also type the code in by hand if the sticker's long gone.
why does the screen take so long to change?
It's e-paper, the same family of screen as an e-reader — no backlight, holds an image with almost no power. That's the tradeoff: it looks like paper, but it isn't built for anything fast.
is my library data sold or shared?
No. What you set is stored to run the frame, nothing else. Full terms and a plain-language privacy note are linked below before you ever put down a deposit.
